About Talisman Gallery
The Talisman Gallery is nestled in the picturesque Hartley Valley, 5 minutes from Mt. Victoria in the beautiful Blue Mountains area of New South Wales, Australia. The gallery was set up by renowned metal artist Ron Fitzpatrick to display his unique range of mirrors, clocks, candleholders and sculpture.
It is located on the Great Western Hwy and you will pass it on the way to many of the great attractions the mountains has to offer, like Jenolan Caves and the Zig Zag Railway.
Ron Fitzpatrick’s artistic journey began in the early eighties, creating handmade knives and tai chi dancing swords in a small shop in Melbourne.
Always looking for new inspiration,he made the move to Sydney, where he became interested in decorative blacksmithing. He opened a shop in Norton Street, Leichhardt, and for the next ten years made hand forged wrought iron furniture, ornate balustrades and commissioned pieces for such world class hotels as the A.N.A. in Sydney.
Ron soon felt the need however for a more peaceful lifestyle, one that reflected his inner journey, and so moved with his family to the beautiful Blue Mountains.Consequently his work took a different turn, reflecting his interest in meditation.Whilst still doing wrought iron work he is now more focused on his unique and mysterious range of mirrors, clocks, candle holders and oil burners, which are inspired by ancient symbols, dragons, the designs of the Celts, and ideas he sees in meditation and more reflect his personal journey.
A few years ago Ron and his partner Catherine opened the wood fired pizza café next to the Gallery and now serve probably the best pizzas you are ever likely to taste. They use only the best local and artisan made ingredients, including the most important one, love. Look over the menu. Visit the gallery and cafe and see the artist and his work-deep on a journey that still continues
